We talked with Motosumo CEO, Kresten Jensen, and with Amancio Santos in order to fully grasp their strategy and objectives in the portuguese market.<\/div>\n

According to Kresten “We love the enthusiasm for social workouts and indoor cycling that we see in Portugal and find it a good match with our experience. Additional factors are our simultaneous entry on the Brazilian market and having both Nick Coutts and Amancio Nuno Santos in our board and team. That knowledge give us additional edge.” Portugal also represented the 3rd biggest market of Motosumo even before they started streaming from Lisbon, so they believe this dedicated approach will have big returns.<\/div>\n

The biggest differentiating factors of the brand are\u00a03 things: 1. The tech to track your cycling data on any bike with your smartphone sensors. 2. Truly live streaming with close to no delay enabling the 3rd differentiator – the interactive features enabling instructors and members to interact with each other, making for a social workout even digitally. The main focus will be on helping gyms giving their members many more classes on the schedule on top of those already delivered by their instructors. Secondly, supporting instructors in the gym with the leaderboard product in the app.<\/div>\n

Motosumo has some big partnerships in the US and Brazil, and will be looking to partner in Portugal as well. No names to be revealed yet though. They hope to very soon have 3 Portuguese and 2-3 Brazilian instructors. They are launching as we speak while Amancio is already delivering great classes! They see the online market as a\u00a0solid one. Most of their users are bringing the app to their gym, so, it’s a mix of the physical gym and the online service, which has proven a good combo.<\/div>\n

The main adaptions they’ve made for Portugal are a full translation of the app and the launch of Portuguese instructors. They hope it’s gonna be well received by users and gym operators as well as their instructors and invite everyone\u00a0to try out the app and service, and hope and expect it will help them earn that respect of the Portuguese consumer.<\/div>\n

Amancio is also an integral part of this project and we wanted to understand why he accepted this challenge and what he thinks are the prospects of Motosumo in Portugal. He\u00a0accepted this challenge mainly for two reasons:”1. I knew Kresten, the founder for some years as his professionalism, I already knew the product, the vision and the good track record in other geographies. That gave me the confidence that with Motosumo I would have a professional team leading the project in Portugal.<\/p>\n

2. Cycling is one of my sportive passions and Motosumo gives me the opportunity to teach, do sport and have fun while I\u00b4m communicating with others.”<\/p>\n

As per his belief in the expansion “I guess it will grow a lot, as consumers by time are more connected to have freedom of movement and a big lack of sportive choices. Exercising at home, at the gym or at any place, Motosumo gives the audience lots of options to exercise, as they only need a bike and then the training challenges starts. Its just a start and a question of timing to have a big audience in Portugal.<\/p>\n

I think that Motosumo will allow individuals or club operators to offer one more proposition to the clients as in a gym perspective, it allows the operators to fill the empty spaces with classes that offers a live feeling, offers lots of gamification and personalized challenges as races, coundown efforts that engages the audience.<\/p>\n

Another advantage is that every live class, gets into an on demand class so anyone can replay his favourite classes with the chosen instructors and in a certain way, retains people to exercise.”<\/p>\n

De acordo com Kresten \u201cGostamos muito do entusiasmo pelos treinos sociais e pelo ciclismo indoor que vemos em Portugal e achamos que \u00e9 uma boa combina\u00e7\u00e3o com a nossa experi\u00eancia. Outros factores s\u00e3o a nossa entrada simult\u00e2nea no mercado brasileiro e o facto de termos Nick Coutts e Amancio Nuno Santos na nossa dire\u00e7\u00e3o e equipa. Esse conhecimento d\u00e1-nos uma vantagem adicional.\u201d Portugal tamb\u00e9m representava o terceiro maior mercado da Motosumo, mesmo antes de come\u00e7arem a transmitir a partir de Lisboa, pelo que acreditam que esta abordagem dedicada ter\u00e1 grandes retornos.<\/p>\n

Os maiores factores de diferencia\u00e7\u00e3o da marca s\u00e3o 3 coisas: 1. A tecnologia para monitorizar os dados do ciclismo em qualquer bicicleta com os sensores do smartphone. 2. A transmiss\u00e3o verdadeiramente em direto, quase sem atrasos, que permite o terceiro fator de diferencia\u00e7\u00e3o – as funcionalidades interactivas que permitem aos instrutores e aos membros interagir uns com os outros, criando um treino social, mesmo digitalmente. O principal objetivo ser\u00e1 ajudar os gin\u00e1sios a oferecer aos seus membros muito mais aulas no hor\u00e1rio, para al\u00e9m das que j\u00e1 s\u00e3o dadas pelos seus instrutores. Em segundo lugar, apoiar os instrutores no gin\u00e1sio com o produto da tabela de classifica\u00e7\u00e3o na aplica\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

A Motosumo tem algumas parcerias importantes nos EUA e no Brasil, e est\u00e1 a tentar estabelecer parcerias tamb\u00e9m em Portugal. No entanto, ainda n\u00e3o foram revelados nomes. Esperam ter, muito em breve, 3 instrutores portugueses e 2-3 brasileiros. O lan\u00e7amento est\u00e1 a decorrer, enquanto o Amancio j\u00e1 est\u00e1 a dar excelentes aulas! Eles v\u00eaem o mercado online como um mercado s\u00f3lido. A maioria dos seus utilizadores leva a aplica\u00e7\u00e3o para o seu gin\u00e1sio, por isso, \u00e9 uma mistura de gin\u00e1sio f\u00edsico e servi\u00e7o online, o que se tem revelado uma boa combina\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

Esperam que seja bem recebida pelos utilizadores e operadores de gin\u00e1sio, bem como pelos seus instrutores, e convidam toda a gente a experimentar a aplica\u00e7\u00e3o e o servi\u00e7o, e esperam que isso os ajude a ganhar o respeito do consumidor portugu\u00eas.<\/p>\n

O Amancio \u00e9 tamb\u00e9m parte integrante deste projeto e quisemos perceber porque aceitou este desafio e quais as perspectivas da Motosumo em Portugal. Aceitou este desafio sobretudo por duas raz\u00f5es:
\n\u201c1. conhecia o Kresten, o fundador, h\u00e1 alguns anos, como seu profissionalismo, j\u00e1 conhecia o produto, a vis\u00e3o e o bom historial noutras geografias. Isso deu-me a confian\u00e7a de que com a Motosumo teria uma equipa profissional a liderar o projeto em Portugal.<\/p>\n

2. O ciclismo \u00e9 uma das minhas paix\u00f5es desportivas e a Motosumo d\u00e1-me a oportunidade de ensinar, fazer desporto e divertir-me enquanto comunico com os outros.\u201d<\/p>\n

Quanto \u00e0 sua cren\u00e7a na expans\u00e3o\u00a0\u201cacho que vai crescer muito, pois os consumidores est\u00e3o cada vez mais ligados \u00e0 liberdade de movimentos e h\u00e1 uma grande falta de op\u00e7\u00f5es desportivas. Exercitar-se em casa, no gin\u00e1sio ou em qualquer outro lugar, a Motosumo d\u00e1 ao p\u00fablico muitas op\u00e7\u00f5es de exerc\u00edcio, uma vez que s\u00f3 precisam de uma bicicleta e depois come\u00e7am os desafios do treino. \u00c9 apenas um come\u00e7o e uma quest\u00e3o de timing para ter uma grande audi\u00eancia em Portugal.<\/p>\n

Penso que a Motosumo vai permitir que os indiv\u00edduos ou os operadores de clubes ofere\u00e7am mais uma proposta aos clientes, uma vez que, numa perspetiva de gin\u00e1sio, permite que os operadores preencham os espa\u00e7os vazios com aulas que oferecem uma sensa\u00e7\u00e3o ao vivo, oferecem muita gamifica\u00e7\u00e3o e desafios personalizados como corridas, esfor\u00e7os de coundown que envolvem o p\u00fablico.<\/p>\n
